If you do not enroll in coverage during this time, you generally can’t buy health coverage for 2018 until the next Open Enrollment period for coverage the following year unless you have a qualifying event (Special Enrollment Period).
If you’re enrolled in a Grandfathered plan (Started before March 23, 2010) then you are able to continue your plan indefinitely. If you are enrolled in a Grandmothered plan (started after March 23, 2010 but before January 1st, 2104) you are able to extend your plan through 2017. However, if you live in Maricopa County and have any other provider but Health Net your plan will end December 31st, 2016 and you will need to apply for a new plan before December 15th, 2016. If you live in Pinal County and have any other provider but Blue Cross Blue Shield your plan will end December 31st, 2016 and you will need to apply for a new plan before December 15th, 2016.
If you purchased your plan through the exchange (www.healthcare.gov) It's important that you update your household income to make sure you get the correct tax credit during the 2017 plan year.
If you don’t have health coverage during 2018, you may have to pay a fee.
The fee in 2017 — 2.5% of your income or $695 per adult/$347.50 per child, whichever is more.
